    Linux best for SERVER.

Linux is the best OS for server because server needs high security and Linux has that. Windows is risky as there is more possibility of being attacked by Virus and worms. Also, linux is more safe from hackers.

Windows = Bloatware. The damn thing needs so much processing power / memory just to boot. Linux is cool because you can strip the kernel down to the bare bones and its run like the clappers.

Must say, I'm also a Mac fan, but not for servers.

I won't say Linux has high security but would say it has a very less no.(never know) of security holes. For a server OS, ofcourse a Linux distro would serve the best. The most prominent used one for servers is CentOS and for private use is Ubuntu or Fedora.
