What's funny sometime about these emails from so-called registration companies is when they use a domain that I do not own.

    Dear owner of google.com,
    blabh blabh blabh

Pay now or else your site is dead on the net.

And what is even worse than the emails?
Getting a letter in regular mail that looks like a bill for your domain.

The payment page isn't even secure like they say it is.

This is as bad as the Domain Registry of America sending you junk mail daily.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are both ran by the same people.

    Just came in via email:
    From: bayomontoya at dnregservices.com

    Search engine registration.
Pay up by Feb. 7, 2011 or no one will find me in the search engine!
    Hahahahhaha

    Please go here: http: //registrationdom. com/ order/ dUBglgb4bY1612qB9TQU7A%3D%3D

    $75 for one year.

Got to love those freaking spammers!

But I wonder, how many people get emails like this and actually go to the site and pay up?

    Good catch.

There's this infamous note from "godaddy" which apparently made it to my inbox a couple times. I removed the actual links in this example. The second link in this message has a copy of a legitimate URL as anchor text but it actually links to domains like goddaddy.com/gobdaddy.com etc. Very easy to pass unnoticed.
