Thread: Facebook scam

    Facebook scam

Just received the following message in my inbox:

    Dear user of facebook,

Because of the measures taken to provide safety to our clients, your password has been changed.
You can find your new password in attached document.

    Thanks,
    Your Facebook.
There's a zip file attached to it.
Obviously it is a scam; I don't even have a Facebook account.

I've been getting spam e-mails from people pretending to be with Facebook and MySpace as well! Except they were just literal spam e-mails pretending to be sent from things like 'myspace notifications' and 'facebook updates' etc. People are really getting desperate these days. :P

What do they hope to accomplish?
I don't think any human being would ever purchase something from a spam e-mail.

True, but looking to news facts it appears that many, many people actually give their password to emails like this. I don't know who does this, but I just hope I will never be so stupid to do it
