I was also being a bit sarcastic.

But I do think the best way to sell useless junk is through an infomercial.

The product I was selling was unique and was a good, quality product. I warned the inventor that the marketing company could destroy the price integrity of the product and degrade the brand image.

People get pissed off with these infomercial offers because they never tell you the shipping costs up front. It is normal to hear them say, "We will toss in a second widget absolutely free. Just pay an additional shipping and processing fee." On their web sites, they do not show the shipping costs until AFTER you give them your credit card information and place the order. Sometimes you will never see the total cost until you get your credit card bill. The scam is that shipping and processing fees frequently exceed the cost of the product.

TopDogger... would you mind sending me a pm and let me know which one you sold?
I would be interested to know...

You are so right about the shipping charge scam... that is why most people shy away from infomercials...

I was wrong about Patrick Swayze being the next celebrity to kick the bucket. Karl Malden died today. He was the head cop on The Streets of San Francisco TV show back in the 1970s. His co-star was Michael Douglas.

Karl Malden made it to 97! That is almost twice as old as Billy Mays.

Damn! This has got to be a record run for celebrity deaths. I would feel much better about it if the politicians were dropping like flies.

I had to look for a pic of Karl Malden to put a face with the name... I remember him...
97 is a very long life...

It looks like Patrick Swayze bit the dust yesterday.

I will miss him. He was one of the few Hollywood people who had a good attitude and was not full of himself.

Hanging in there for over a year and a half with pancreatic cancer is really unusual. That is a death sentence and people rarely live more than one or two months after diagnosis.

That's a real bitch of a way to go. Constantly waiting for the end, tortured by the small but not quite non-existent hope of recovery, living in pain and watching yourself waste away, knowing that your days are numbered -- with a very small number -- and still not knowing that number.

I think that I'd much rather death came as a surprise to me.

Ditto. I understand that Patrick Swayze weighed less than 100 pounds when he died, but he maintained a good attitude throughout the ordeal.

We just watched the entire season of The Beast, which was his one-season television show. He was undergoing chemo while filming the show. You could see him wasting away from the first episode to the last.

I think that was his only television series. It was pretty good. The Beast was filmed in Chicago, where I grew up. They really played up the landmarks and historic locations during the show, which made it more interesting for me.
