Thread: Kovich is out of the industry.

Don't leave Kovich, but sue them if you can. What was the hosting company again!

Glad to see that you are not giving up.

When you start restoring your sites it might be a good idea to do it at a different hosting company. I have never completely trusted most hosting companies. I keep current backups of all scripts and weekly backups of all databases. It would be a pain for me to restore all of my sites, but I could do it in a day if I had to.

Always hope for the best, but be prepared for the worst.

Oh, well they fixed the issue by totally wiping it and reinstalling all components.

Except there's one small problem... they deleted the backup right along with it!

This is crazy. They deleted the back-up

Really sorry to hear that buddy, check if there are other options available.

But looking at your knowledge you can start again and in any case if you are changing the field you have to start from zero. Please let me know if I can help you in any way.

Do not loose heart start over again we are with you, do not forget that.

Did you try searching the wayback machine to recover it? I have done this with many of websites and was able to get the whole thing.

Did they re-install your scripts and databases? If this hosting company is worth anything they should have made a periodic backup. The hosting backup should be stored on another server.

Always keep your own backups. It seems that people always learn the hard way about backups.

It is a good idea to keep regular backups of everything on portable hard drives. They are cheap insurance.

Are they dumb? They shouldn't have deleted the back up, and one thing more, back ups should not only be once, they should have at least 2 back ups. WHat a hosting company

    Well, I've decided to restart.

I was able to salvage some of my other sites, like my make money online blog through older backups that I kept manually. However, I lost my successful Debate & Discussion forum that I have been running for years and invested a ton of money, time and effort into...

Awfully depressing situation, let me tell you.
