Thread: When will we be able to live on Mars ?

When will we be able to live on Mars ?

There is frozen water on Mars we all know that and with water we can create life. Only it would take so long to achieve something of life. It also took earth millions of years to get it.

But how or when or with what do you think we will live on Mars ?

I think in a hundred years we will have build a colony on Mars for sure.

it been proven that the water has toxic chemicals that can kill people if we drink it

    Filtration and distillation. No sweat.

I dunno, but hope we can someday. I created a load of background for a sci-fi universe set in 2290 where humans have expanded to the moon & mars (but not further) once. Then did nothing with it, might write some short stories if I ever get back to it.

I think we will be there one day for sure, we always need an escape goat since were destroying the planet already... why not have a back up planet to screw up too lol.

I think they will find ways to fix the water, and then just start building domes to house people in so that we can breath and what not.. simple things that should work, just making them work is the key.

haha, that is what exactly make me even more worried. it sounds as if someday human will occupy all planets in this galaxy and ended up destroying them with such destructive habits. ^^"

I think moving on to Mars isn't necessary if we're willing to improve our lives a bit. I think I have no comment about this case, I'm not really against it but somehow I don't like it. XD

I like the thought of moving onward to other planets, and actually exploring more reliable places to live... Mars may not be the best candidate but hey it's a first option.

I think we need to learn how to take care of our planet now, before hurting another yes.

Of course we need to take care of Earth, Mars will never be a real subsitute. I think we should try and go beyond Earth though... it's in human nature to explore, I think it's one of the best points of our species. The desire for discovery...

Well we could have had a moonbase by 2025 but Obama made sure that that won't happen by scrapping the constellations program. Although Japan has planned an unmanned moonbase by 2020, made by robots that will be sent there. I'm guessing that this won't be hard to convert into a habitable base. So we should have a moonbase by 2030. And once we have a moonbase a marsbase won't be very hard to make. The only difference would be that it's further.

And with the new ion-propelled spacecrafts getting there would be a matter of months rather then years.

I estimate it at 2050 if no wars, etc brake out to stall it.

that's not going to happen unless we have one big oxygen tank that'll supply everyone and make sure there's no carbon dioxide coming inside the buildings

    That's no problem.

They have air recycling units, just like the ones on the ISS.

Water can also be recycled, the only problem is food.
