I did that just before the incorrect start of the new millennium, which actually did occur in 2001 (simple math shows that the world was wrong). Nothing happened so meowing to the heavens must have worked.

That also marks the end of a 500 year period of global cooling that climatologists call the Little Ice Age. During the Little Ice Age, global temperatures had cooled down so much that the Thames river froze over in the winter and ice carnivals called Frost Fairs were held on the frozen river.
