I guess he wants to know the optimum/(minimum amount of) search volume which makes a keyword worth targeting.
I think i'll have to agree with Hellas a bit on this one. Another thing that needs to be considered is the fact that the search volume is directly proportional to the competition which in turn is directly proportional to the amont of time it'll take for you to actually get up the SERPs fr that particular keyword.

As a rule of thumb, go where the money is.
There's a reason that some keywords are more competitive than others.
I think that at least 40k is good for consideration. If you become first on Google for that keyword you will have 30-40% of all traffic which is very good statistic...
I agree. A very popular product search term -with thousands or more searches a month- can be something cheap like t-shirts. Or, a rare and very expensive product or service with just a few searches per month.
It depends on yourself, your interests and how you handle your sales leads.
