Hey guys, was wondering which keyword suggestion tool you personally use and why.
Mike
I used to use inventory.overture.com but it closed down a couple of years back. Since then I have not been able to find a tool nearly as good.
There are various paid versions but they are not even an option for me at the moment- costing $100's of $$ per month it would far exceed my total profits.
There are a few that I have been using in the last year:
(Note: I now ignore all the numbers with keyword tools, instead I just get a handful of phrases that I think people would be interested in and target them)
Google Adwords Keyword Tool- the numbers really confuse me
WordTracker (Free)- probably my favorite out of them all because it has 100 results
Google Search Based User Tool (SkTool)- good to find what keywords your competitors are using.
Submit Express Free Tool- pretty useless because it only has 20 results all up.
As mentioned above none compare to inventory.overture.com but having the above is better than nothing.
Anyone know of any other good ones?
I like the Google AdWords Keyword Tool. I also use WordTracker.
WordTracker uses an extrapolated estimate based on search results from a couple of meta search engines, such as Dogpile and Metacrawler.
The AdWords Keyword Tool numbers are supposed to represent actual searches performed in Google during the previous month. They also show a monthly average.
first thing you need to do is click the drop down menu labeled ‘Match
Type’, change it from ‘Broad’ to ‘Exact’
Also you need to hide few things, by clicking the drop-down labeled ‘Choose columns to display’ and clicking ‘Hide Advertiser Competition’ and then clicking
‘Hide Approx Search Volume’ to hide those two, also you need to activate CPC to see how much specific keyword is worth, by clicking ‘Show Estimated Avg. CPC’

Yes, I also do the same as Dusan mentioned with the Adwords Keyword tool to get numbers that make a lot more sense. I think it's a great tool once you have the exact match selected.
More information available here on what the different matching options mean:

Edit: Oops....changed it to Dusan... my bad![]()

Say hi to your brother Desan for us.
My main keyword research tool is Wordtracker. I use it more than all of the other keyword research tools combined.
