Hi, Scourge. Thank you for the feedback, and glad you like the style.



The style being fixed is a concern that has been pointed out to me a few times, and I've been pondering options. When a member recently gave me feedback concerning the readability of the forum content, part of my response was as follows:

Yeah, the designs available to this forum do have the problem of being too "skinny," which is a problem I should have gave more consideration to. Unfortunately, the "wide" versions of both templates have to be purchased separately, so I am under the impression that it cannot be done with the current templates.



I have three options. First, I can try to stretch the templates out a little more. Second, if I can stretch the templates out more, I may be able to upload the templates a second time with the modified width. Third, if stretching is not an option, I may purchase the "wide" version, at least for Enlighten, the default template.



If I am to make one of the first two choices, though, I will first need to educate myself as to how to do it.

In a subsequent response, that member clarified that he didn't want me to change the width, but his feedback reminded me that I mean to give members the option of a fluid alternative of the style, if I can.



I suppose the webmaster Patrick O'Keefe may be right when he said the following:

The skinny pages thing is probably just a matter of taste. Some people like fixed width. Some don't. You are using a style that allows you to easily switch between the two, though, so you could try one and then go back and see what you think.

However, it wouldn't hurt to give members a choice. After all, this is the very same reasoning that went into my decision to have a "light" and "dark" style, and to choose the "light" style as the default (my experience is that more people than otherwise prefer a "light" style).

Anyway, but the forums are amazing and I might be active on them or something.

Thanks, Jake Jones. I want to use English as best I can, but I also don't want to sound like I'm trying to show off; on the contrary, I always fear my English may be inadequate, and every post has me thinking how I may have spoken better. Along these lines, I just finished a college level English course, and plan to get into creative writing and maybe even journalism. I feel I have a long way to go, in any case, but as long as I can express my thoughts clearly to my readers, I'm glad.



By the way, I'm not a native English speaker; rather, I grew up speaking ilongo, a Filipino dialect. It is probably because I was forced to learn English at a later age, however, that I pushed myself at trying to master it.

I always hate going into big communities that have stayed up a long time though. Becuse I feel a noobish in the community with a lot of posts.

By the way, there is a "dark" style available as an alternative for those not so fond of the default. That style, anyways, is called "Greenfox," and may be selected from the style-selection drop-down box on the bottom left of any page of the forum. Hi.



Here is an update I posted on another forum:

Thanks to the talent of my fellow administrator, Saint, background images were designed for the two styles being used at my forum, Enlighten and Greenfox. Does anyone here like it? Does anyone here think it's a distraction, or otherwise doesn't look good?
