Thanks for asking a very Good question:), actually I had 1900+ posts few days ago.
Honestly, I am too confused why my and everyone else's posts are reduced. It's bit depressing and disturbing for me as my posts were very personal and precious to me:(.
Suddenly one day I woke up and all my effort, time, energy and contribution disappeared. I am still unable to digest this rule:(.

Yes i think so it's because you did more thn 80% posts in General chat section :D
But well i think so it's a good thing too because people never stop spamming in GC to increase their post counts but yeah it's hard luck for you :)

Another this which I wanna say is that only post count is not there. But if people buy signature for getting it in posts and they have nothing to do with post count.
Sig. is not only for advertisement but also for SEO to some extent.
So, still people should buy it because they will have their link in that no. of posts.
I hope I am clear and you all agree.
Here's a way to check total post count.
Goto profile and click find all posts by (member name)
eg. http://www.netbuilders.org/search.php?searchid=135485
