Please do not post URL's publicly in the Marketplace -> Links forum

If you post a URL publicly in the Marketplace -> Links forum, Google will most likely penalize the domain from being able to pass PageRank and authority. This will permanently lower the value of the domain.

Please share URL's through PM.

i can verify this. Before time i on DP post url in topic and in 3 days pagerank drop to 0.

Might be a dumb question but do you think people posting in these threads could have there signatures effected also since they in the same post? Is G able to tell the difference, Is it possible to make it a hidden area? So only logged in members can access it?

I believe that those penalties are applied manually, so signature links should not be a worry.

That's an awesome idea!
In fact I think that all Marketplace should be hidden from the general public as most buyers and sellers prefer not to have any URL's indexed as "for sale" or whatever.
In any case, and as NB is growing fast, I wouldn't be surprised if we had some GIA or GBI agents around us soon, so I'd prefer that no links were ever disclaimed in public. ;)

The question that strikes me is this - What if I posted a for sale thread or even a links for sale thread in every forum I know of and posted the url to the site..... But it isnt my own site it is one of my competitors?

While I am not disagreeing on the matter and I do agree that it is best not to post the url couldnt this technique easily be used to lower the PR of your competitors? That is assuming that this sort of thing does affect PR, SERPs or whatever.

what about in the site review area??
