Default Changing from free blog to own Domain name

Hi guys,

I never thought about this idea till I found that one of my blogspot blog is going really well.

It's a health and beauty niche blogspot blog and is having more than 200 impressions per day. and alexa rating 8XXXXX ( dancing there in 8 lacs ).

as this is a free domain I don't have any benefit from the blog.

So am thinking to buy an own domain name for the blog.

I have a few doubts.
  • First of all is it possible to buy a domain name from another service than blogger and put it over there?
  • If it is possible can I have the same traffic there too? I mean the user visits am having now per day. Will it be there in the new blog too?
Thanks in advance for your helps..

Will there be options similar to our normal hosting to change our title icon? see this VINODASALA

I think this domain did the same thing what am thinking now. They have blogger icon in their title, I'd like to avoid it.

and one more surprising thing is blogger is saying in the link you have given that hosting is absolutely free of cost. See this site I mentioned above is a movies hosting site it seems are they providing unlimited hosting space?

If you're talking about the favicon you should be able to do that by adding a line like so into the head portion of your template :

Code:
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="http://yourimgsrc.tld/favicon.ico" />
And the site you mentioned isn't hosting any movies as far as I could tell they've just got embedded content from other sites.

Yeah, I was talking about the favicon only. But some of the movies are not embedded it seems. But am not sure about that. Thanks for the help. I may be doing this for transferring my blog to an own domain. The users who enters the old free blogger domain name will be redirected to the new name isn't like that?.

According the the link Will posted :

Your original Blog*Spot address will automatically forward to your new domain. That way, any existing links or bookmarks to your site will still work.

Blogger isn't providing free hosting. Essentially what you have is a blogspot that has it's dnd settings directed to your own domain name.

All you need to do is the following
1) Update the DNS settings of your domain
2) Update your blogger settings in the Settings | Publishing tab for your blogspot, In the custom domain box enter your domain,

You could also try getting your own hosting and domain, then moving everything.

The Google Webmaster panel has a 'Change of Address' form so that all the work you've done (SEO-related) isn't lost.

yeah, I will have a look at this. Now I have both hosting and domain with me, all I want to do is the change of address I think. Thanks for the help buddy.
