Cloudflare Reverse Proxy, Firewall, and Global CDN in one

Another thread I was looking at reminded me of this, but then I realized the thread was 2 years old and is about only a subset of what Cloudflare does. Have you heard of Cloudflare? Anyone considered using it?

The intriguing thing about it is the uptime guarantee, and protection from spam and various other "bad" visitors. The plans page has the feature list.

The main worry is that it could block wrong visitors, cause delay in page updates (like with caching), and change some URLs to point to a CDN (I'm not sure if it does, or how would it work if it kept all URLs exactly the same).

    Any thoughts?

It sounds good. From what I know it's an evolution of the services provided by the good people behind ProjectHoneypot, such as Matthew Prince.

I've considered using it, since ProjectHoneypot is awesome and I would expect to see great things from CloudFlare as well.

    Hi memenode,

I actually work for CloudFlare and thought I would clarify a few things.

The main worry is that it could block wrong visitors
The challenge pages operate off of data sources. You can, however, override our behaviors by whitelisting IPs; you can also set your basic security levels to high (strict) or low (challenges only the worst of the worst).

cause delay in page updates (like with caching),
We recommend going to development mode when making changes to static content to bypass our cache (settings->CloudFlare settings->Development Mode).

and change some URLs to point to a CDN (I'm not sure if it does, or how would it work if it kept all URLs exactly the same).
URLs do not point to a CDN. Your urls would remain the same & we cache based off of extension. We actually honor any expire headers you have set on your server.

Sounds good Damon, thanks for the clarifications. I think I'm gonna try it on my sites then. They're not very active, but they do get spammed a lot so this could help.
