I figured as much, but you have to ask just in case there really is a formula that works. Personally I've never had success with AdSense, but $1000 a month would be a very nice start. Most of my income has come from writing for other webmasters and selling links on sites that I've now also sold.
I'm sort of starting all over again, and whilst writing is a nice steady income, it's much like teaching, you have to work long hours to get ahead, and I'd really like to supplement my income with something a tad more passive, like AdSense or a reliable affiliate program.
Since you're an English teacher starting an ESL site might be a good idea.
Could be just a WP blog, write stuff on grammar and other things - check popular keywords.
Do some seo.
Find some good affiliate programs and stick them there, like rocketenglish.
You could write about other languages as well, like spanish

And English lesson plans could be also a good idea... I used to be an English teacher and I looked for my lesson plans from the internet.
And I notice quite a few of he DP members are saying the math doesn't add up, that in fact the author is simply trying to promote their writing business
So how many guys here are making a comfortable living (more than $1000 per month) through online income?
Do you guys think more content translates to more revenue?
$1000 barely covers the food bill for my family, too many kids I guess
I have been working online full time for about 6 years now.
I am probably out of place amongst the crew here, many seem to be adsense and affiliate driven - we have been selling actual products that we ship to the customer.
