The only way I can think of is donations, otherwise almost all blogs use the normal methods.
I think a big problem with the blogosphere is the way people monetise their sites. People often sell banner spaces, use Adsense and do paid reviews, but I was thinking about ways to monetise your blog that isn't conventional.
So, anyone got any ideas for monetising a blog in a non-mainstream way?
donation just still have many controversy, it's discussed on other thread
How about providing PPI and PPD file using your blog? (pay per install and pay per download)
@Farrhad - yeah, I personally feel that's a huge problem. I think if someone can create an innovative income method they'll rake it in!
@Akira - hmm, maybe, but I;m sure you only get paid a few cents for that?
Ok, this is the case on my country, there is a site (misshacker . com) provide a thousand updated frequently mp3 which uploaded on rapidshare/4shared which already integrated with urlcash system. So, if there is a people download mp3, they get earn.
To provide mp3 business, i believe the downloader per day is not just 10-20 but a thousand, and mp3 is universal, not for indonesia only but for any country. So, just make the worstest scenario is downloader per day 1000 people, and in the month misshacker will earn 30000 downloader. It's the most worst scenario, in the fact i think the downloader per month is more than 100,000.
What i mean here, you need to build a center of some filetype. If misshacker do it with mp3, maybe you can make a center of minigames file, etc....
Well I know the site akira and it really need team work to do that. Beside getting update with every MP3 that launched or even some indie type is quite difficult I think more over if your source is the internet either (or other site)
Steven once posted about Project Wonderful. Okay, it's kind of like banner space selling, but it's still a bit different from what most webmaster are used too. Have a look at their about page (it's a bit complex, so I'll just let you read instead of explaining everything :P) www.projectwonderful.com

And the effort of doing that will be worth. Os, so you know misshacker? I'm sure, Not only misshacker but also gudanglagu.com or site like that, reach a thousand download per day. Read : PER DAY . So, you can imagine the earning
Anyway, wanna make project like that with me, nadhare?
Not really monetizing per say, but using your blog as a portfolio is a great way to get client leads.
I mean, it's great to use a conventional method, but then to put your own twist on it is, in my opinion, one of the best things you can do. An example of this is Michael Dunlop from www.IncomeDiary.com - he used affiliates to make a three step guide to buying a blog (buy a domain, buy hosting, buy a theme), and for all three he used his affiliate link.
