Captcha that Earns You Money $$$

    Hi,

I just found this Captcha that can earn you dollars. It has a simple wordpress plugin to install.

Use the Solve Media CAPTCHA widget on a registration form, comments form, or any Contact-Form-7 v2.0 or newer.
WordPress › Solve Media CAPTCHA WordPress Plugins

Here is the site where to join.

Engagement Advertising Technology | CAPTCHA, Pre-roll, Brand Tags - Solve Media

I am thinking why not, plus it should help cut down on spam even if you don't get rich with it on your site.

    Interesting.
But as I do not use captcha at all on my blogs, not for me.

And I wonder, if it takes longer on a captcha, if one would lose visitors?

Trying though to figure out how this would work with a contact form (I don't have that on my blogs)?

    Hi,

It helps on cutting down on Spam a bunch. I have not had one spam comment on my site from the time I added the plugin (Knock On Wood. Oh that was my head) . Yes I have Akismet included on my sites. Anything to make life easy with less headaches. If it gets me a few dollars even better.

A captcha works because about 95% of all spam comments originate in China, regardless of the type of spam. They are inserted by bots. WordPress stores the IP address for the spam comment in the database. Last year I did an analysis and found the about 95% originated in university cities within China. It did not matter which language was used in the spam, or the nature of the comments.

Given that they mostly originate in university cities in China, it sound like building spam bots is a typical class assignment.

I'm with the captcha to filter those auto spammers and I encounter some captcha that is interesting because its not the typical letters but puzzles and shapes are on it.

The puzzles and shapes may be due to the use of double byte Asian language characters. They will not display properly in Western browsers unless a plugin is installed. Western languages use single byte characters.

For Otaku CMS I implemented a hybrid PHP/Javascript commenting system. The comment is visible to the poster of the comment and admin users, but invisible to the world until approved by an admin user. The usual way to say: "your comment is awaiting moderation" is a bad user experience IMO, but not having any moderation opens your comments to exploitation by bots.

Also, I use Javascript to handle the forms to make the comment submit process unfriendly to bots.

I think that any puzzle and captcha gateways will eventually be broken by the clever computer science peeps writing the bot code and then there will be paid 3rd-world human comment spammers out there.

So, I think that my method is a good one where the magnificent human brain of the admin gets to decide what goes public in the comments rather than say a PHP script.
