Thread: Direct ads selling

I believe and i know some member here have earn $$ by selling the ads to be placed in their blog page. I'm also know farrhad last month earn $400 from direct ads selling.

Let's discuss about direct ads selling.

How many you're already earn from this method?

So far, I've earned very little from Teenius. I haven't actually sold any ad spaces yet, but have managed to make a few affiliate sales through signups on my blog

For new blogs, direct ad selling isn't really practical, and I'd usually say you have to wait between one and three months before your site is established enough to make any decent money from direct ad selling.

And what do you think indicator of good blog to be advertising? Usually, people will come with see the PR of the blog. Is there other indicator? Traffic amount of other blog can't be tracked right? SO, traffic can't be indicator

Personally I would look for a high comment count. People who comment will usually be quality visitors, and are therefore more likely to click one of the adverts on the site (if it looks interesting). If they get 1,000 UVs/day but no one looks at the posts and bothers to comment, they're very unlikely to click your ad either

But it's strange since i have advertising my blog in 3 blog with good traffic (125x125 ads, all advertiser is free because i win it on contest --> one is from swastik), but the traffic is still less. Maybe the design of ads is not good? Should i make it animated?

simple-image ad or an animated-game ad works best..

of course it has to got a good design and doesnt look like some cheap creepy ad, in the first place ;p

Since i'm not expert in design concept of ads, maybe for me, making 125x125 ads contest is a solution instead try to make ads but the result is not effective.

Oh yeah , i find selling 125x125 ads is more profitable and hot instead to sell big banner of the top or bottom of sitepage. Don't know why little ads which placed on side bar is more sell well.

Em.. I have planned to sell ad space on my blog, but I thought, for most newbie blogger - it seems hard to get direct ads from advertiser. Because there are many things to do before you can attract an advertiser so they will wanted to place their ads on your blog, i.e. the quality of each articles, blog designs, traffic, and so forth.

Yes, that is the problem, of course from the start, we need to manage our blog first. This is not only for attract people to advertising on our blog, but also increase up the ads price.

I'm already read the tips from Marko, and i think to write blog success story is nice strategy never noticed before. But of course, this will be related to newbie blogger problem also, since of course newbie have no blog success story yet.

And i just advice, don't price your site/blog ads too much in the beginning. Price it with appropriate amount.

I would advise not selling advertising at all in the beginning. It just isn't worth it for a few dollars a month. I mean, you'd be better off placing Adsense there or, even better, affiliate banners. Either that, or give them away free in contests, as this will gain exposure to your site.
