It's not bad idea also. It's people choice
Anyway, i'm try find another donate button plugin, but what shown on google is just Buy me a beer plugin.

And when i search it, what i find is this article :
    http://www.dollarshower.com/the-impo...donate-button/

It's so coincidently and give me idea, do you mean by write good reason to request donate is (for example) SUPPORT THIS BLOG?

I think that plugin allows you to say 'buy me a coffee', too

Personally I feel the point of that plugin is to add a bit of fun to donating. Seeing something that says 'buy me a beer' is much more appealing/fun than just a Paypal style button that says 'Donate'. It's all about persuading people to donate.

The problem will come if people translate it directly and not think it is just a humour . Because not all people can take it as a humour, and for example nic SEO which think it's bad idea of request donation.

Agreed, but I feel in general people will get the point.

I think it was last.fm, but there was definately someone who had a donate button on their site that had something to do with buying programmers pizza. If you can make it unique and funny, people are more likely to click it.

And how about make it related to your blog topic? I think it will more interesting. So, when you write about cat, you can make "For feeding my cat" button. And if your blog about handphone, you can make donation button such "To replace my bad handphone". What do you think about make it related to our site?

I think this is a really good idea, but there are niches in which it is harder to do (i.e. a MMO website).

For MMO, how about something like 'Buy A Blogger Some Bread'. IMO it doesn't need to be too niche specific, it just needs to be fun.

Or you can make the sentences, how about this :

"Do you feel my blog is contain good article? Still wanna read other usefull MMO article? Please help this blog excistense by giving me some motivation"

And if people think, yes..the site is so usefull, they will surely donate for you
Because they will think if no donation, the blog is closed, which maean their can't get good article anymore

I don't think anyone is foolish enough to believe this. Blog owners can't use domain and hosting fees as an argument anymore, it is SO cheaper than it used to be.

So you feel it's like forced us to donate? Or in other word : donate or no more article? That's whay we should now our position, is our article great enough and make us appropriate to request donation?
We may can't use domain and hosting fees as a reason, but thinking about time and effort spended on making article. For example is to making this article : http://www.dailyblogtips.com/alexa-i...ely-worthless/ . Asking to yourself, do you willing to giving donate to receive more article like that? Probably yes
