Thread: Donations

  1. #21
Lets be honest here: most people who are going to read MMO blogs will be webmasters themselves, and they're trying to make money, not donate it. Because of that, they are extremely unlikely to donate on any blog.

People in smaller niches might donate though, especially if it's a community website like a forum as they want to keep it running.

No, because their are webmaster, that's why it's more easy to get donated because their have a money (i'm sure MMO visitor is a people which have money, even it's not too much). Please, to donate $0.5 is so easy for them, they have more than it.

And don't you think donate system is same with buy and sell system? We pay to get something. In donation case, we donate to see more article.

People know that the blogger will carry on producing content. Personally I would never donate to a blog unless they REALLY needed the help. Not all webmasters have money, and, infact, the one's who read webmaster blogs probably earn the least

    I agree with Simon.

As for me, I have never donated to a blog as I have never felt the need. All the blogs I read regularly are well monetized and have no donation buttons.

However if I come across a killer blog post that really helped me, I would surely donate.

Ah i get the point. To make MMO website/blog, we need to build a brand and reputation. And as a proof of we're is really good on MMO, we no need to request domain. Is that what your mean?

It's because you think, if MMO blog request donate, it's become a question for a reader, "why when the writer know about MMO, but still wanna earn this way?", and then their are doubtfull and leave our blog.

    Am my analysis right ?

Not really no (and neither is your grammar, but we won't go into that).

A lot of webmasters will respect the people who earn the most and are therefore more likely to donate to them. Whilst I can see your point, people are always willing to accept money for free (donations), so the more successful bloggers (which have the most traffic) will probably earn more from donations than smaller bloggers anyway.

That's why successfull blogger can't miss this chance, but to add donation button .

Hmm after i thinking more, no need for successfull blogger or owner of successfull MMO site to add request letter or something like that. Just put DONATE button is enough, it's better than to take a risk that make you'll look cheaper or like a beggar.
I mean, no need to talking too long, but just said : WANNA DONATE or something like that. If visitor would like, they will donate even there is no request.

And also, there is no data/research yet which proof that your site will lose of visitor after add donation button, right?

  8. I have a donation button on my navigation bar. But I've only received one donation. Which was great! Every little bit helps
