Thread: How to monetize mp3??

I have huge amounts of people downloading some free mp3's on one of my sites. All totally legit, no worries.

Naturally they don't clicks adsense, or anything.

I think most are Chinese. How can I monetize it?


There were half a million pageviews this month, maybe some are bots though, I'm not sure how to check but most seem to follow a referer from a chinese site, or baidu.

put a wall between them and download file (zip submit or something)

yeah that's what I thought, but are there zip offers for chinese?

Also any quick tip how to install it? They just download like mysite.com/folder/file.mp3

What about an email submit form, then once you have enough addresses sell the list to the highest bidder?

Yeah... but who wants to buy a list full of Chinese people willing to download mp3's?
I mean.. if I own a site and 1 .mp3 is 10mb..
If Belgium downloads it, my server still can handle it (Just, not more) but if China downloads it.. I need 999999 servers more so..;

I would imagine there would be a lot of people in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, or even western countries who would be delighted with a list like this, people in China who have Internet access and who download music are probably in the emerging middle class and might be a great list for online gaming, offshore financial services, affiliate programs etc

Put a password for the download section. To get to the download page, put up a page with content and adsense and the password at the bottom of the page.

I say add that toobar people are talking about in another thread. Insert that on the download.php file so they have to complete the survey or other requirement before they can get the file

Glad you asked this actually and made think of this. I am gonna try it on one of mine.

I think its called Password Protect Directories or something similar. Look around on your cPanel, im sure you will find it.
