    Link pricing question

I've checked the marketplace on DP and I've noticed that links in posts/articles tend to cost more than those on the blogroll(sitewide).

I feel this should not be the case considering that PR for homepages rank better than pages. Aside from this fact, blogroll links ARE sitewide. The small investment for the blogroll is thus maximized as opposed to links in articles which even has the chance to be

    1. not indexed,
    2. not get PR

On the other hand, the only pro reason I can currently think for links on posts is that those tend to be permanent.

    Would appreciate your thoughts.

I think that links in blog posts are more expensive because the seller usually has to write a blog post to contain the link.

I tend to prefer links inside content, because they look more "natural" to Google and are therefore less likely to be discounted.

The answer depends on whether you are looking for "traffic" or "link love"

Blogrolls are generally better for traffic because you get a sitewide and the link is on the homepage. But is really depends on the quality of the blog and traffic.

As Will stated, in content links get more love in Google.

Content links in quality posts can also generate traffic. I just got a content link (unpaid) from zdnet.com. I'm getting traffic and feeling some "link love" as well.

I thought I had read someplace thought it was here that the person felt G wasnt giving any weight to blog roll any longer as these tended to be trades, self promotion or sold positions. Cant find it now but I have to agree a more natural link would be a in content one thus making it more valuable.

It makes sense that the weight of blogrolls and signature links would be discounted.
