I've been to Guatemala and it really didn't impress me. But I wasn't there too long.

I've heard that Barranquilla and Cartagena Colombia are hot if you know what I mean.

That pretty much says it all.

For a long time, my goal was to increase my earnings by 50 cents a day. Every day, I would just try to do something that would increase the revenue of my web empire by 50 cents.

If you do that for a year, you'll end up earning $182/day ($66k/yr).

After a few years, things get really interesting...

I haven't tried Guatemala. Colombia was very nice, except for the insane levels of crime:

• Motorcycle theft is so common that motorcyclists have to wear their license numbers affixed to their jackets and their helmets.
• Car owners etch their license numbers in all major external car parts.
• Every major building has it's own bomb sniffing dogs.
• Foreigners just don't leave the Bogota, and even inside Bogota you don't travel alone.

I like this post. Every bit helps and adds up. Whether it's pennies or dollars or quarters. It's still 1 cent more than you had to start with! If only I could make even just 1 penny a minute. hah. (adsense wise)

Well you might as well then make your goal to be $864 a day. It's just a different way of stating the same exact goal. Saying 1 cent per second just feels more elegant, but is no different than saying $864 a day.

I kinda agree that focusing on such small amounts per such small amounts of time can get one to lose sight of the bigger picture. It's also a great way to end up forcing yourself to sweat for every cent if you take that road. I mean let's say you decide to accomplish this goal by writing forum posts for cents or even write articles for other people. The problem with that is that the revenue stops the moment you stop working so it's very very linear. You essentially turn yourself into a wage slave to your own self. :P

I would propose that the best way to use this kind of thinking is as means of motivation. Every now and then, perhaps even daily, you calculate how many cents you are making per second right now and then try to set a realistic goal for more and then calculate how much you need to make more per day, per week or per month to accomplish that. Then forget about cents and focus on that larger period, setting some sort of a deadline. So you don't get stuck on the microcosm of your finances yet you use it as means of motivation.

There's just one catch though. Focusing on making money rather than producing value for other people isn't always the best way to hit it big. It's a subtle mental switch, but it matters. What I do might be a kind of a compromise though. Instead of saying my goal is to make $3000 a month I say that my goal is to produce $3000 worth of value to other people every month. Yes, they're exactly the same thing except the latter is the kind of sentence that is more likely to make me think about other people instead of solely my money.

Speaking of 1 cent LOL I've made that so far with my new project. Good considering its only been running for a few hours.
