Uglier the better seems to work for some. Take a look at places like MySpace, and that "go fish" dating site (or whatever it was called). There's no accounting for poor taste.

He's said in interviews that he's reluctant to change anything in case it breaks something (i.e. impacts his revenue stream)...![]()
I've run an experiment on one of my proxy sites to see if a different template makes any difference on a high traffic day by switching theme halfway thru. AdSense earnings didn't change. The test is of course not conclusive and only ran for one day so no firm conclusions can be drawn...
Yeah, didn't he say he was making like a million a month or something at one time? MySpace's success still boggles my mind. Its a horrible place full of terrible sites, and useless content, poor taste, and pre-teen posers showing disgusting pictures of themselves. Even worse are the 30-40 something white trash posing sexy. Its an abomination of huge proportion. I've got some friends that post those "sexy" poses and end up getting all kind of pervert comments and sexual offender fans. If you saw them in real life close up? You'd be a bit surprised. Amazing what posting a pic online does for the ug factor.
