    Profitability: At what point?

At what point does a blog have a reasonable opportunity to start producing an income?

Is profitability most likely to begin at a certain PageRank? Age? Number of posts?
Location on Google for a certain keyword? Give me some information!

I'm looking to start investing large amounts of money and time into my blog, but I would like to determine when I'll start to see an income on it.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't believe that a weblog is a money maker. Not that there aren't some that make some dollars.

However, the blog is a good vehicle to promote other sites, market seo services or affliates. It's also a good way to network and market yourself.

It's a number of factors, depending on what you want to do. If you're looking to sell adspace, you need to know all of those things and more whereas for paid posts you need to focus on number of posts and traffic levels.

What you really want is traffic. If you're getting at least 1,000 hits a day for one month, you're good to go.

I think blogs can be money makers, at least up to 4 figure income max and I agree with Corey about 1000 hits a day being a start. Also, page rank or more importantly significant link popularity can also be a start for some text link ads revenue. I have a personal blog which gets 2 figures without even planning it, just cause it has a decent page rank or link popularity even though it doesn't have much traffic.

But for anything over that (4 figures) it looks like different kinds of businesses would need to be entered which actually isn't a big deal because even those businesses need buzz and an audience to promote to which blogs can deliver.

I didn't make 4 figures on blogging yet though. :P
