Saw a similar sales funnel issue with one of the affiliate offers I hawk last year that took us a month or so to get them to fix (they made more money from the fix than me...)
Reinforces the mantra of always testing and asking users/visitor what they don't like about your site...

Yeah, it seems that too many business people have bought into the mantra of "You're throwing money away by not building your list..."...
Though this may be true for a blog, I think once you get someone moving in the sales funnel you have to give them an out like the fix in the 300 million dollar button article...whether its the "continue without registration" button or something similar. If you don't, in your effort to obtain the all mighty "Opt In" email for future sales, you will lose sales today!

I am seeing more and more e-commerce sites using guest purchasing, or they give you the option of setting up an account.
