WARNING : Be careful who you sell Ad Space to

    Hey All

I just want to put out an APB (All Points Bulletin) on Ad Space. There have been tons of blogs who have sold ad space to one of the many "Rogue Anti-Virus" Providers without even knowing it.

This causes your users to become infected with viruses and you stand the STRONG chance of loosing that user. This can also hurt your page ranks and even cause you to be blacklisted on search engines and web filters.

    Also...

It is a smart idea to understand the content of any site you are linking to via an ad. There will be times where the ads could be offencive or useless to your visitors. You should only accept ads that have something to do with your site or sites content. Dont be afraid to turn down potential clients of you have any doubt

  2. Yeah, I always look at the site first. I once was supposed to link to an adult site and I was getting a good deal, but I did not accept it.

Gross. I have a strict "no adult" policy when it comes to my freelancing and webmastering.

Well there is nothing wrong with Adult Banners, as long as you have an Adult Blog or Site to place them on. The Ads should fit your site. but as Farrhad said, you should screen the site first.

I have a friend who was offered an ad sponsorship for a year on a forum. It was an adult related thing.

So he has an XXX ad on a sports shop.

Now he repents as it turns people away.

I think Google will penalize you if you link to adult sites (especially if they are banned).

Good point, Google has a strict anti-adult policy. They will terminate any site who has adult content on it.

Always check the link/content first, and never be afraid to give the money back saying "Sorry no sale".
