Thread: Boston Marathon bombing

    Boston Marathon bombing

OK... someone exploded two bombs at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Several more devices were reportedly found and disarmed. No word yet who is responsible. Of course that hasnt stopped a number of douchecanoes on the news and other places from claiming it was the work of the Tea Party or similar. That's pretty bold considering the president of the US is personal friends with two more domestic bombers from the FBIs most wanted list than most of us on the right are... but what's new.

More than likely it'll turn out to be some Alahu Akhbar wannabe. It could turn out to be a domestic type, but it's a tossup whether they'll be from the right or left. If they're from the left the media will dutifully dismiss it as a solo nutjob. If it actually does turn out to be some nutcase that has rightwing ties, the media will tar everyone on the right as holding the same values he does. Oddly they seemed not to notice when chris dorner published a manifesto praising Obama, Biden, Pelosi, et al. Weird people... they never see the disconnect in their flawed logic.

Low information voters only watch msnbc, cnn and cbs, etal.

Funny, moved into our new place today.
Brother came over, had to get the televisions set up for the cable.
And he gave the channel for fox news!
    Not the others.
I said, fox? You, a did (damn iowa democrat) watch fox?
He said yes, to get the news!

Now if only the rest of the DIDs started to do this...there is hope.

The Boston Marathon bombing was similar in destruction to the Centennial Olympic Park Bombing in Atlanta, Georgia during the 1996 Summer Olympics.

I recall that the media incorrectly reported that a security guard was the suspect and there were some lawsuits for damages.

    Update:
New York Post reports Authorities ID person of interest as Saudi national in marathon bombings, under guard at Boston hospital

Yeah, they basically convicted a guy named Richard Jewell in the media... and it turned out to be wrong.

The nature of the 24/7 news outlets is to latch onto any piece of information and try to scoop the others doing the same thing. Sadly it means we have much more access to news than we did when it came on at 6pm... but in situations like this the majority is rumor, speculation and wild-ass guesses that are wrong. Journalism has died... and in its wake we have cheerleaders like Wolf Blitzer and Chris Matthews. Makes you miss the days of Cronkite, Reasoner, Mudd, et al.

I seen the pictures and it's horrifying. I am praying for the victims speedy recovery though I know that majority of them are traumatized because of what have happened. Hopefully the investigators and the policemen will find the people behind the bombing incident so that justice will be served for those people who loss their lives.

Could it be that the 20 year old Saudi national being held in custody is in the United States illegally or has immigration issues?

The 'Gang of Eight' are holding back their immigration bill that was planned to be presented today.

“Out of respect for the victims of the terrible tragedy in #Boston, we won't be holding the press conf on #immigration reform tomorrow,” John McCain tweeted.

  7. What we know:

    1) Target of bombings was US civilians, not an abortion clinic, or the government, or an animal testing facility

    2) Two bombs were set off in concert at different areas of the race, with potentially more discovered at other locations

    3) No group has claimed responsibility for the bombing.

    4) The date of the bombing was Mass. Patriots day and also Federal Tax day

Facts #1 and #2 have all the hallmarks of Al Queda, except that fact #3 runs contrary to normal Islamist attacks. Fact #4 implies a right wing lunatic.

After reacquainting myself with the facts surrounding the Atlanta Olympic park bombing, I find myself very concerned that some half brained nut job has single handedly cemented what I consider to be bogus stereotypes about the only group of people bringing fiscal sanity to this nation.

Hopefully not a rightwing nut, but there are crazies on the edge of any group, so it's possible. As stated, choice of a target doesn't seem moderately consistent with that being the source though. We'll see what turns up.

The majority of the trouble with mass killings of late has been from people clearly identified with the left. The media hated to mention the shooter that was carrying SPLC literature when he lit up a few folks around the time of the gays vs Chick Fillet thing. Several others have had Democrat voting records and rhetoric. They seriously downplayed Chris Dorner's praise for Obama, Biden, Pelosi, gun control, etc.

But if someone with even a tenuous connection to the right goes grapenuts, they'll wanna arrest the entire right wing as co-conspirators with some idiot we'd likely kick out if he spoke up at a our weekly meetings. Logic's got nuthin to do with it. The administration will make hay if it's a rightwing nut and will cover it up if it's some Alahu Akbar asshole they let in on a student visa. Jihadists get a free pass these days.

  9. @Rob: It is definitely an uphill battle for conservatives because we don't run the media so therefore we don't drive the narrative. It just bothers the hell out of me when people confirm negative stereotypes. If I were a black guy, I'd be a lot like Bill Cosby, yelling at the morons who perpetuate and confirm the stereotypes that nobody likes to talk about anymore.

One thing I find heartening. If this guy turns out to be some right wing nut job, the conservative community will excoriate him as much or more than the lefties, unlike the lefties who circle around, protect, and sometimes glorify their own (Rangle, Ayers, Guevarra, etc) no matter how heinous their acts. I find it stunning that people are busily helping Wiener to rise again. Its going to be a long, hard, road ahead for him to get back into politics.
