Thread: Connecticut mass shooting tragedy

So what Obama is going to do according to you?

  2. #12
Simple...if he feels that congress will do nothing....
    EO time!
That is Executive Order, of which he loves to issue.

Reports I am seeing from around the country show that gun shops, wal marts, any place that sells ammo, are running low.
People are stocking up on ammo and guns.

What will do an executive order? Ban all firearms? Confiscation? Well in case they decide that and supposedly compensate with (which I don't believe) triple or quatruple the number of police officers it will be a carnage.

Presidential Executive Orders are the law of the land.
So obama can go from simple new gun controls to an outright ban on the manufacture and sale of certain weapons or all weapons.

It would take the House and the Senate to overturn such an EO

    Would he do so?
Hard to say, but he gave hints about this in his speech yesterday.

You need to look at public opinion and what the general masses are willing to accept. When a tragedy like this happens, people want to see what looks like actions. All of this is emotion and not logic based.

A later regrettable quick fix is what always gains public approval.

But what do you expect? If we look at the government to fix what we ourselves as a society cannot handle, then we will be treated like little children. And the real issue is that the world is full of psychopaths who get medicated without fixing their issues. They are a product of a dysfunctional society. No law can fix this. The only thing that can be done is to attack it at its root which is the beginning when kids grow up without parenting. I recently asked about how life was in the 50s and one reason is that back then mothers stayed home to talk to their children, raise them, prepare them for life. Now we have 2 working adults hardly home, kids only raised by a broken school system. What do you expect?

It is no longer in the hands of the parents. They try to keep the roof over their heads and pay their credit card debts.

Only those who prepare for life are able to handle it and then pass on good habits. The rest is just clueless. It's called "trained helplessness". Never thinking about what to do, but looking for someone to help us. And as usual, the last resort is usually the government because everyone seems as clueless as the next person.

Sorry dawg, this is incorrect. An executive order is not a law at all. An executive order cannot create a law or modify an existing law. An executive order is only intended to give instructions to Federal employees as to how to deal with something. It is no different than a CEO setting policy for how the company operates. Obama has been illegally using executive orders to circumvent existing laws. It is illegal because an executive order cannot change a law. He is, however, changing the way that laws are enforced.

Thus far under Obama, this has frequently been to the detriment of the country, such as his executive order to drop the 'seeking work' requirement from the welfare laws that Clinton signed. The law still applies, but Federal employees report to the president and must follow his orders. There is also the executive order he signed on December 31, 2011 authorizing the military to be used again American citizens, which is in violation of the Posse Comitatus law. The list of illegal executive orders under Obama is long and getting longer.

A presidential executive order does not apply to state or city employees, nor does it apply to citizens. A president is not a king and The Constitution's Separation of Powers is intended to prevent him from becoming a dictator. That is why Obama shows so much disdain for The Constitution.

The president has no authority to create any laws. Laws are made by Congress.

I am wondering why no one in the media is questioning why so many of these shootings have occurred since Obama took office. Is it the economy, an extension of people's mistrust for a president who is inherently dishonest and has deep disdain for his country, or as some conspiracy buffs believe, is the situation being manipulated by the government in order to justify confiscation of firearms, which would be required for a complete takeover?

It is very clear to us in Arizona that Fast and Furious was a failed Obama and Holder attempt to turn public opinion against firearm ownership. That did not work, so it is very possible that they are working on Plan B. In order to push through new, restrictive firearms laws, Obama must first change overwhelming public opinion about firearms ownership.

In the case of this school shooting, banning firearms would not have changed anything. The guy could have accomplished the same thing with a knife or a baseball bat.

Couldn't be more agree with you on this, I said something similar in post #8

The solution to ban guns isn't going to work. Look there are armed guards in almost every federal and state administrative offices, but the only areas that are targeted by the crazy are gun free zones, perhaps the most vunerable are the schools. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to create an armed school police for first response on site. Some people need to take the right decisions, that's all.

Alex Jones is calling the shooting another False Flag, meaning it was staged by the government. I don't believe everything that Alex Jones claims, but he does make some good points about the shooting and the predictable response from the Liberal Loonies.

I personally like the Israeli approach where teachers are armed.

Speaking of which, teachers stabbed in Europe is becoming more and more frequent, assault on bank employees, etc . In Europe there are much more restrictions and gun control is pretty heavy, unfortunately it doesn't avoid shooting or crimes.

I think what said Gun Expert Lott in the article above is correct in many ways.

You have to be caution with Alex Jones, but he makes some good points sometimes.
