Nobody cares. Seriously, nobody cares.
Lies about what happened in Benghazi, recess appointments, socialized medicine, direct taxation, suspension of habeas corpus, elections and legislation bought with taxpayer dollars and political favors. Nobody cares.
When this country started out, only men with property had the right to vote. The population was small, and the government was small enough to drown in a bathtub, comparable perhaps to a small town in California.
Up until about age 30, most Americans don't want to think about anything outside of playing X-Box, how their local sports team is doing, getting laid, getting married, getting high, and having a good time.
After age 30, it dawns on some of them that the issues being decided in Washington are complex and will impact the future of the nation and their children, so they start to inform themselves. That process can take years or decades, and even after a bit of political education, the never ending stream of BS and misinformation flowing from Washington, the MSM, and their friends is constantly competing with real information. Even the folks with the most information, and a bit of education about history come up with and buy into some really crappy ideas.
All that aside, people get out there and vote. They ramble on about their political beliefs as if they have a patent on truth with the starry eyed blind faith in their ideas of a suicide bomber. The reality is, politics devolves into an "Attack on Big Bird" or an "Attack on Women" because that is the level of knowledge at which most voters are conversant.
In our political system, for all intents and purposes, there is no truth.
What appears to have won the election this time is the fact that unions donated over $500 million to his campaign (a multiple of the former record) and put over 100,000 union workers on the streets focused on getting uninformed and lazy people out to vote. It was basically community organizing on a large scale. After seeing some of the union propaganda that was being sent out to union members, I can just imagine what uninformed voters were being told about Romney.
The real danger in this term is not what Obama can get away with, but what will happen to the entire future of the country if he gets the opportunity to appoint more relatively young Supreme Court justices to replace any conservative justices. Much of what FDR was doing was declared unconstitutional, but he found a way to pack the Supreme Court with liberals in order to swing the court on his site. FDR still holds the record for the largest number of unconstitutional acts.
The other issue is the Congress. Obama is currently focused on discrediting the Republicans in Congress every chance he gets. If the Congress swings back to the Democrats in the mid-term election with Nancy Pelosi in charge once again, there will be no hope for this country. I have been to Switzerland and it is a very nice pro-gun country with sensible leadership. Their population may expand.
Both the prior two posts touch on uninformed voters. At the time our country was founded, not everyone voted. I'd be happy if the voting machines gave a brief timed test before they allowed you to vote. Maybe make you pick the names of the candidates on each side from a lineup of 10 people, correctly identify the party they're in, and correctly pick one quote from each of them out of a lineup of 10 quotes and attribute that quote to the right speaker.
In other words... quit letting people vote just because they turned 18. Increased voter turnout of total fucking retards is not only not helpful, it assures the dumbest outcome.
Democrats would call that an attempt at voter suppression, but seriously, I would WAY rather have a devout leftist pulling the lever for a candidate because he believes in communism than have some moron throwing darts at a board based on some catchy commercial he saw while watching a football game.

We aren't talking advanced civics here. We aren't even talking about the types of questions legal immigrants have to answer to get their citizenship. My guess is the above three questions would eliminate nearly 25% of the people who are currently encouraged to vote.
Most Obama voters couldn't answer "Whats your favorite color?" and get it right... so of course it'd be voter suppression. Suppressing the terminally stupid is IMO a good thing. Why do you think they initially limited it to landowners? They wished to avoid having people that didnt have enough brains to prosper from making the decisions.
You just don't get it. Suppressing the vote of terminally stupid is what Obama and Holder are trying to fight. How else are they going to win elections?
I have not seen a poll recently, but every year there are multiple polls that checks voter knowledge. The results typically show that more than half of the voters do not know who the Vice President is. In the last poll, roughly the same percentage of people who voted for Obama could not name the VP. What a coincidence.
We shared a coupla videos at DP just befopre the election. Dont recall if they made it here or not. The interviewer attirbuted Romneys positions to obama and the Obama fans cheered them. He attributed Obamas positions to Romney... Obama fans booed the ideas. He asked if they were happy that Obama had chosen Sarah Palin as a running mate, they thought it was clearly a great idea, etc. These were not "low information voters", these were NO information voters.
Incidentally, a lotta those are the ones now going "WTF... my taxes went up? How'd that happen?"
I think those were the interviews done by Howard Stern's team. I posted that one here somewhere. Here it is again. It is a hoot.
Howard Stern also did one in 2008 that is on YouTube.
