Thread: Hamas firing rockets into Israel

    Hamas firing rockets into Israel

Hamas has been firing rockets from the Gaza Strip into Israel for years with amazingly little recourse. Recently the IDF took out one of Hamas leaders in a surgical stirke in retaliation.

Hamas has responded by acting like they are the agrieved party (how dare Isreal object to them firing rockets at them!) and has stepped up the rocket attacks. Israel is fially dragging tanks and troops forward to deal with the threat.

Hamas is bravely staging their attacks from atop hospitals and beside schools, etc. Clearly they cant take the IDF in a battle and hope to provoke them to retaliate, thus creating civilian deaths of their own populace. Appears the media is prepared to use every civilsin desth as proof the Israelis are targetin dhildren andwomen.

This isnt real complicated. hamas is ready to sacrifice their own citizens for a photo op of their mangle bodies, and is doing so in hopes some other country like Egypt will come to their aid.

Pretty sick tactic. I feel for the guys in Gaza strip that recognize Hamas for what they are.

What gets me is the people who see Israel as the aggressor. Uh, no. They aren't. They are defending themselves, and they aren't cowards like the Hamas, hiding behind women and children. Yeah, I said it. The terrorists are cowards. Israel fights to protect their innocent, the women and children among them.

The sad part is that other countries WILL come to the Hamas' rescue and Israel will be left with no choice. My heart and prayers go out to those stuck in the middle, to those willing to die and sacrifice themselves for their country.

    I stand behind Israel.

Agreed Mandy. There's no loss when those that foster war die... But most of the victims of war had nothing to do with starting it.

I really think this is about to be a ground war. It's the only way that Israel can dismantle Hamas while limiting civillian casualties. Sadly, that means an increase in Israeli casualties.

They need to send Mossad and the IDF Airborne in and take over the hospitals and schools...then where will Hamas fight from?

The ground war didn't work in 2006. The big problem for Israel is that they made a unilateral withdrawal from Gaza and got no security guarantees in return. After the Hamas takeover of Gaza in 2006, the European Union monitors fled the Rafah Border Crossing. This allowed Hamas to stockpile rockets and enough weapons to arm 35,000 fighters.

The only solution for Israel would be to weaken Hamas and replace them with the PLO's Badr Brigade in the Jordanian Army, Fatah policeman from the West Bank and volunteers from the Arab population in Israel and Bedouins to form a Gaza Battalion Protection Force.

Otherwise it's more of the same with a continued supply of Iranian arms passing through Egypt.

And our president again sends mixed message to Israel and Hamas about this.
I personally believe that obama wants Israel to enter Gaza.
Then he can openly come out and support Hamas!

Funny but the best coverage of all this is from Al Jazeera....

Then this commentator, I have to agree with him.

  8. Just heard in BBC the hamas killed 6 people because they are Israelis living in their place.

But they killed them in the name of Allah, so to them it is justified. The radicals in the Religion of Peace are well known for doing things like that. Hate drives their lives.

This seems to sum up the press reaction:
