Obama Calls For Gun Control, Again, In Aftermath Of Shipyard Shootings

The bodies of the casualties from yesterday's latest mass shooting incident have not been buried yet, but already the president, fresh from his embarrassing foreign relations defeat with Russia and not to mention the ongoing NSA snafu, is back in 'distract em with a campaign-cum-crusade mode' after calling, once again, for Congress to pass gun control legislation this time in an interview with Noticias Telemundo.
One can only assume the president was himself too distracted by all his recent scandals and/or was just spying too hard on the American people to recall that it was only in April that the Democratically-controlled Senate killed an amendment to a Democratic gun control bill, which was the first and biggest slap in the face of the freshly re-elected president so far in 2013 (little did we know it was only downhill from there), and made a mockery of Obama's crusade to enact gun control.
Either way, for whatever reason, here's Obama:

President Obama called on Congress on Tuesday to revisit gun control legislation, saying in the wake of Monday's deadly mass shooting at the Washington Navy Yard that lawmakers should take what he considers "basic actions" to toughen the nation's gun laws.

In an interview with the Spanish-language television network Telemundo, Obama said the country's background check system for gun buyers is so weak it makes the United States vulnerable to mass shootings, such as the one last December that killed 26 small children at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn."You know, I do get concerned that this becomes a ritual that we go through every three, four months, where we have these horrific mass shootings," Obama said in the interview. "Everybody expresses understandable horror. We all embrace the families — and obviously our thoughts and prayers are with those families right now as they're absorbing this incredible loss. And yet we're not willing to take some basic actions."

The Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting propelled gun safety to the top of Obama's second-term legislative agenda, but Senate Republicans as well as some Democrats in April blocked a proposal to expand background checks.

"You have a majority of the American people and even a large percentage of Republicans who are ready to move the country forward, and yet we keep on getting blocked," Obama said. "It's a challenge that I'm speaking out on, but ultimately we're also gonna meet pressure from the public to see if we can change how they do business up there."
He also said a bunch of other things - the full recap can be found here.
Of course, when this latest initiative of an openly flailing administration crashes and burns, there will be yet another Syria false flag event to redirect, just as there was in the spring when Obama's first attempt at getting the Senate to pass a Democratic proposal, failed, which needless to say also ended up in flames.

Trazodone antidepressant, used by Aaron Alexis, described as ‘very safe’

Trazodone, the drug that officials say Navy Yard shooter Aaron Alexis was prescribed by Veterans Affairs, is a a generic antidepressant that is seldom used anymore to treat depression but is widely prescribed for insomnia, experts said. “We use Trazodone to help people sleep,” said Gabriela Cora, a physician and longtime practicing psychiatrist in Miami. The drug is considered safer than many other widely prescribed sleep medicines because it doesn’t cause addiction and doesn’t require increased dosing over time, said Cora, a former researcher on mood and anxiety disorders at the National Institutes of Health.

“If you take 50 milligrams and get a good response one day, your body will continue to respond to that dosage” if you need to take it another day.
In higher dosages, the side effects would typically be increased drowsiness, weight gain, and water retention, she said.
“Honestly, it’s a very safe drug to use,” she said

There were dozens of Democrats and liberal news media morons once again calling for a ban on AR-15 rifles. It turns out the guy never had any type of rifle. He used a shotgun, which is what Joe Biden recommends that people purchase for self defense.

I believe that the article below sum up pretty well the situation and if some people still don't understand, I advise them to read the newspapers in countries like France to see how the very strict gun control laws and self defense forbidden are doing and how criminals are multi-recidivists because the French government lack of firmness.

Terror Reigns in the Land of Gun Control

For those of us foolish enough to live in a crime-gripped city while also summarily denied our constitutional right to protect ourselves, this week's massacre at the Navy Yard pretty well sums up our insane, defenseless existence.
Our Capitol Hill neighborhood drowned in the scream of sirens as police cars, vans, trucks, and armored vehicles streaked through the narrow streets at deadly speeds. The skies filled with the constant wapping of countless helicopters.

Just back from dropping children off at school, neighbors began frantically calling, texting and emailing one another to see what was wrong. The crisp morning reminded many of Sept. 11, 2001.
Police dispatched text and email alerts to residents that there was an "active shooter" at the nearby Navy Yard, just blocks from where our children play little league baseball. Many were dead and more injured, we were told.
Then the terrifying news: As many as two more shooters were on the loose and being sought.
D.C. police concluded their advisory to residents with the same admonishment that punctuates every crime alert: "DO NOT TAKE ACTION." Instead, we are given an "event" number and instructed to call 911.
As any decent American knows, there is no feeling more powerless than to realize that a couple of mass murderers are loose in your neighborhood and you are denied the right to keep a gun to defend yourself, your family, or your home. A sickening knot tightens in your gut.
Then came the latest Orwellian phrase in the "homeland security" lexicon: "Shelter in place!"
So, not only are you not allowed to defend yourself against mass murderers, you are not supposed to run from them either.
This, my fellow countrymen, is pure insanity.
And all the terror and real bloody carnage took place inside the most impenetrable fortress of gun control utopia.
The very guns Aaron Alexis used to kill 12 people are banned in this city, unless you submit to an exhaustive, invasive, and expensive process and prove to the city bureaucracy that you are worthy of your Second Amendment rights. Clearly, that failed.
We now know that Alexis was run through to the normal background checks already in place to purchase a gun from a gun dealer. He submitted to even more exhaustive background checks to get his job and access to the Navy Yard. All of those background checks, and he still massacred 12 people.
We also now know that Alexis had multiple run-ins with police in various states and was accused of committing numerous gun crimes, including firing a gun into his neighbor's occupied apartment and blasting the tires off of a car in a fit of rage. In those cases, existing laws were already in place to nab the lunatic and strip him of his gun rights. For whatever reason, these laws that should have flagged him as a dangerous criminal were not enforced.
So here we are with 12 good people dead, living in the land of gun control, where terror reigns because the criminals have guns and the rest of us are scolded "DO NOT TAKE ACTION" and "Shelter in place!"
The great cartoon philosopher Gary Larson once drew a panel of what he imagined a boneless chicken ranch might look like. Already flightless, the limp birds lay all about unable to even raise their heads with their legs splayed out in ridiculous fashion.
That is what we are here. Flightless and defenseless. As a cartoon about boneless chickens is hilarious; as a way of life, it is terrifying.

Obama Asks Congressional Black Caucus to 'Keep Marching' for Gun Control

Speaking at a Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) dinner Saturday, President Barack Obama asked the CBC to continue "marching" for gun control and other progressive issues.
Obama used recent murders in Chicago to segue to other cities to argue the nation needs more gun laws:

Just two days ago, in my hometown of Chicago, 13 people were shot during a pickup basketball game, including a 3-year old girl. Tomorrow night I'll be meeting with mourning families in [Washington DC] who now know the same unspeakable grief of families in Newtown, and Aurora, and Tuscon, and Chicago, and New Orleans, and all across the country—people whose loved ones were torn from them without headlines sometimes, or without public outcry.
Obama did not mention the fact that gun crime has increased in cities like Chicago where strict gun control has been stepped up as well. Such laws in Chicago, Washington DC, and NYC make those cities target-rich environments for criminals, who know their victims will rarely—if ever—have a gun to use in response to an attack.

Obama told the CBC he needs them to continue "marching" with him on this issue throughout the remainder of his term as president.
