WoW, Obama handled the pirate hostage crisis like a season veteran. I am quite impressed that he gave the Navy free reign on resolving the situation.

I suspect that there were two stories ready to be released to the press. One with Obama taking credit if it went right. Another that was quite different if it went wrong and the Captain got killed.
The credit really goes to the Navy Seal Team snipers. Things typically go well if you let the military do what they do best and keep the politicians out of the picture.
Anyway, giving the military to go-ahead to do what they needed to do was the right thing to do.
My concern at this point is, "What are they going to do with the 16 year old punk pirate that they captured?" I hope they do not plan to bring him to the USA for a trial. With our liberal laws regarding how we deal with criminal minors, he will almost certainly be freed on US soil. He wins, we lose.
It wasn't really covered very well in the American news media, but a French commando team recently rescued French hostages held by Somali pirates.

well, even if this current hostage situation can be resolved, I don't think that it completely stops sea piracy. Considering the economic situation in that country and the poverty it creates, sea piracy can be an attraction to those in need even those in young age.
Russian navy seizes 29 pirates off Somalia: report
Quite impressive that Russia has grown a set since their last Ship was commandeered.
