There is something I don't understand is that non lethal equipment like flash ball could be used in this kind of situation, why police officers aren't equipped with non lethal firearms?

No idea why anyone sends a freakin SWAT unit to respond to a homeless guy sleeping in a state park. The Albuquerque police are bad news. Law doesn't apply to them. All these militarized police forces are bad news.

When you watch the unedited video at the end... they murdered this guy, pure and simple. These guys a ball-less chickenshits who couldn't make it in the military but want to play like they live in a video game. They don't need badges, they need to be executed in the same fashion they killed this guy. Assholes.

You know, I read the news all the time (heck, have nothing but free time) and read them before they hit forums and blogs.

Now, why are cops not armed with non-lethal weapons?
They are, they just never use them most times, as so much easier to slap leather and shoot first.

I could go on with a nice rant about police, but I do not waste my good stuff in forums.

    Hi,

What is really sad is this is not the first time stuff like this has happened.

I really believe that they should be held accountable for their actions.

I have nothing against cops, but they should be held to a higher standard than the rest of us, not a much lower standard. Unless there is something we don't know about the killing of the homeless guy, this was an execution. It looks like all he was armed with was a small pocket knife--and he only pulled that out after he was attacked. That means they should have used a Taser to disable him.

It looks like they did it again this week. At least this time the guy had a history of violence against cops.

Did Albuquerque police jump the gun AGAIN?

Watch the video on that page. It's amusing to see how little reporters know about firearms and ammunition. Apparently, the guy bragged about purchasing some hollow point rounds. According to the reporter, "hollow points are known for going through bullet-proof vests."

    Hi,

All this says to me is never stop in Albuquerque again.

I heard this before I don't know now from whom. "Not all thing that are new are good. Take a look at New Mexico for example."

There was a supposedly peaceful protest about the alarming number of shootings by cops in Albuquerque (over the last several years. The protesters were met by cops in riot gear. Turned into a fight.

The chief had issued a statement calling this latest shooting justified. He's since retracted. Basically sounds like the local PD has forgotten they work for the citizens... not rule them.

They need to fucking clean house... remove the chief and the cops and start over with people that don't think that you must obey them immediately without question or die. This police-state nonsense is bull.

The sad thing is, this is endemic to too many police departments around the country.
Police now have the mentality of shoot first, question later.
