San Bernardino City Attorney warns ‘Lock your doors and load your guns'

San Bernardino is so bankrupt that the city’s attorney is advising residents to “lock your doors and load your guns,” in the face of budgetary cuts that have downsized the police force by 80 officers.

San Bernardino, a city of 209,000 about 60 miles (97 kilometers) east of Los Angeles, listed debt of more than $1 billion in a filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Riverside, California.

The idea that police could possibly defend the life and property of every citizen 24/7 even when fully staffed is just a comfortable allusion. Everyone should be capable of defending loved ones, home and hearth. If not, they are natural prey for the seamiest elements of society.

They should have started by downsizing the city council. That is usually where the root of these mismanagement problems start.

I wonder how much of the $billion debt is due to the southern California sanctuary status for illegal aliens.

I suspect that people have locked their doors and kept their guns loaded in that area for some time.

The San Bernardino illegal alien population has doubled over the last ten years.

Imagine what would happen if Americans living in Mexico tried the same thing. Mexicans would simply laugh and the protest would go nowhere. It is incomprehensible that people living here illegally are demanding benefits. Most Latin American countries would lock up protestors like these.

The problem with immigrants is the same in too many USA cities. I lived in Minnesota for many years. Minnesota is broke primarily because of 36,000 Somali refuges mostly brought in by Clinton. Before that, Minnesota took in the largest number of Hmong refuges in the country. The majority of people in both groups refuse to work and prefer to collect welfare.

Although both of those groups are here legally, Minnesota also has a growing problem with illegal Mexicans. A few years ago when illegals were marching through the streets of American cities, Minnesotans were shocked to see 10,000 illegal Mexicans marching through the streets of downtown St. Paul. I don't think that any Minnesotan thought there were more than a few hundred illegals living there.

Welfare has become a gravy train and a disincentive to become a productive member of society. Minnesota happens to be one of the states on the "welfare circuit" where anyone can get a welfare check on the first day after claiming that they moved to the state, which is what he is doing to circumvent laws and Congress. He is violating the oath that he took to uphold and defend the laws of the USA.

The problem is just getting worse now that Obama illegally removed the "seeking work" requirement from welfare. It now means that they no longer have to lie about seeking work in order to collect welfare. His action is illegal because an Executive Order cannot modify or rescind a current law. He can, however, use it to instruct Federal employees how to deal with an issue.

So why are people paying taxes when they cannot get the most basic service of security provided for it? This makes so little sense.
