I always find it hard to believe that it will cost more to recover and ship back military hardware than what the hardware is worth. "Too costly to ship back home," is BS. We pay a bloody fortune for every military item. Nothing is a bargain.
But if they cannot get the hardware out, it is better to destroy it than leave it for the Taliban.
We did the same thing after WWII. Thousands of planes and tanks were dumped off of ships and into the ocean. A good friend's father was a quartermaster in WWII. He once told us a story where after WWII they were ordered to spread tens of thousands of brand new GI wrist watches out on a runway and then ran a steam roller over them. The BS at that time was that the release of these watches would destroy the watch industry. Say guys, how about simply issuing the brand new watches to brand new recruits? Democrats were in charge back then, as well.
Taxpayers must still have lots of money that the government has not yet figured how to piss away.
