Stock Market Below 8000, Obama now President

Is it just me, or has every day closer to Obama taking the reins the stock market seems to plunge or have only modest gains after losing heavily?

I find it ever more interesting that on Inauguration Day (what I have been calling "Obamapalooza, the Stock Market Completely tanks.

I enjoyed the speech. The words were great. Will the action and method be the same? The stock market and most of rational America do not share the "historic" bs that everyone else seems to today. Everyone seems more focused on ego than accomplishment.

Government cannot and does not fix an economy. The market does. The workers do. The small businesses do. Us tax payers and producers and innovators do.

I wonder if the market indicators of late are indicative of a president that intends to spend, spend, spend. I wonder what would happen if for once, Washington just left shit alone?

These are strange times, and even strange days lie ahead.

  2. The historic B.S. is traditional communist rhetoric. Marx taught that communist victory was a historical inevitability and Marxist doctrine still holds this to be true.

Back when Reagan was president, it seemed like we had finally put communism in it's grave. It appears that we celebrated a bit too soon.

We're all going to get a lot poorer over the "next ten years" of Obama's reign. It's no more than we deserve for electing this jerk.

I swear, by my life and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine.

It's funny you mention this. I was talking to my dad about the "historic" nature of the day. And how everyone was calling it a "historic" moment, or "historic" event. I asked him what was so "historic" about it (since race was never supposed to be a factor in this election )

He said its historic because "its the first time in history our entire government is 100% socialistic."

Its truly disturbing to me that after all we've all worked for. After all we have overcome. After all the blood that has been spilled. After all have fought and died for freedom, liberty and the God given right of the pursuit of happiness. We now have a government that consists primarily of people that want to strip these rights from us.

Meanwhile they talk about these things as if they should be delved out only to those that deserve them under the guise of "fairness".

I for one am not going to be punished for achieving. I've watched countless generations suffer stupidity like that and its not something I intend to have happen to mine or my son generations.

The change I wanted was getting rid of pork barrel projects

Blowing $900 BILLION in taxpayer dollars on pork projects isn't my idea of "helping the economy."

Unless, of course, you mean the economy of those people who paid to get these kleptocrats elected.

I agree. The US is (or used to be) an open market. Things are born and things die. Ford could bankrupt? So let it be. Others could bankrupt? So let it be. New cars will see the light, new products, new way of doing business...it's just how life goes on...

Kinda hard to do with a Democratic majority. Putting things into perspective, its been that way for the last 2 years or more of Bush's presidency. That said, aside from his own spending issues, I think there was little if anything he could do to stop these porkers either.

Especially when many of these projects lead to more waste, continued spending and at best, only provide a short term boost to employment.

The majority of the people that vote for them are already on the take. No, not in the sense that they get kickbacks, or enjoy cushy government jobs. What I am talking about are the breed of people that have been suckered into going on the dole. In other words, those that enjoy the benefit of being taken care of. The dependents. Those complacent to seek the aid of those giving out hand outs.

5 minute call to unemployment = money
8 hours a day looking for a job = no money

Its way too easy IMO to achieve that American Dream. That's the real problem. I mean, take this story today on CNN about this couple that had to sell their lake front home in South Bend Indiana just to keep their business alive.

Hell, my dad wore shoes with holes in them so his kids did not have to. What is the matter with struggle? We have a generation of spoiled whiners that have never had to struggle. When things come that easy, there's no real incentive to work to overcome adversity.
