    Hi,

Lost here again how can they make a law when it says they can't?

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

This would never get passed by the current Congress, but could have passed if it came to the floor when the Dems had full control of the House and the Senate.

Politicians CAN amend the Constitution and repeal amendments to the Constitution. Prohibition was originally passed as the 18th Amendment in 1920. It wasn't just a law; it was a Constitutional Amendment. The 18th Amendment was repealed in 1933 by the 21st Amendment.

    Prohibition - Facts & Summary - HISTORY.com

The movement to curtail free speech is almost overwhelmingly a reaction to bloggers and Fox News who reveal the Democrats' nefarious schemes. Prior to the the emergence of each, the Dems had almost complete control over the media and what gets reported to the people.

If you want to REALLY piss off a Democrat, all you need to do is reveal what they are really up to, rather than what the lapdog media is reporting. We never hear Republicans, Libertarians or Tea Party members calling for restrictions on free speech. Only those with something to hide will try to limit your rights to free speech.

The Dems would also like to amend the 2nd Amendment.

Supreme Court Justice Talks Candidly About Gutting The Second Amendment

If they ever gain full and complete control of the the presidency, the House and the Senate, they may be able to do that. The only reason they didn't focus on it during Obama's first two years is because they were consumed with taking over the health care system so they can eventually drive it to a single payer (government) system.

Vladimir Lenin: "Socialized Medicine is the Keystone to the Arch of the Socialist State."

The bottom line is that politicians will try to get away with anything we allow them to get away with. When they are allowed restrict the watchdogs of freedom, they can control everything we hear or see on the news.

It is not a load of carp or crap.

Prior to the emergence of conservative talk radio, which led to Fox News, the only voice we heard in the media was the liberal view. At that time it was considered to be the moderate/mainstream view. Back then, liberals were actually much more moderate to conservative. Most of JFK's beliefs would be considered conservative today. That all started to change with the 1960's liberal movement. The 60s liberal thought they could change and transform America into their ideal society, which turned more socialist over time. As a result, today we have a Progressive Socialist president. He openly and repeatedly said he was a Progressive during the 2008 campaign, but either people did not hear it or they thought a Progressive had something to do with progress.

There wasn't much argument when the media only reported essentially one point of view.

Keep in mind that it is not the conservatives who continually want to take away your Constitutional rights and replace them with their idealistic views. That movement is reserved for the liberals who envision a utopian society that has never worked anywhere in the history of this planet.

They can interpret the Constitution any way they like, but unless they get a 2/3 majority in the House and Senate, they cannot legally change it. On top of that, they need 3/4 of the states to ratify it. That is why they try to use the Supreme Court to change the interpretation of the Constitution.

Here is the rule, provided that they follow the Constitution.

Article V of the Constitution prescribes how an amendment can become a part of the Constitution. While there are two ways, only one has ever been used. All 27 Amendments have been ratified after two-thirds of the House and Senate approve of the proposal and send it to the states for a vote. Then, three-fourths of the states must affirm the proposed Amendment.

The other method of passing an amendment requires a Constitutional Convention to be called by two-thirds of the legislatures of the States. That Convention can propose as many amendments as it deems necessary. Those amendments must be approved by three-fourths of the states.
With hurdles like that, it kinda makes you wonder how Prohibition got passed in the first place.

    Hi,

Yes but I am a dummy with just simple thinking.

Here is my simple way of thinking.

The Eighteenth Amendment (Amendment XVIII) of the United States Constitution effectively established the prohibition of alcoholic beverages in the United States by declaring the production, transport and sale of (though not the consumption or private possession of) alcohol illegal.
    The First Amendment says

Congress shall make no law respecting
So no matter what, under NO way can it be changed Not with 2/3 majority not with 3/4 of the states.

They are saying that others can be changed however this says no law meaning nothing under NO way can I be changed.

Historically, the Democrats have ignored the Constitution whenever they wished.

Do you think it was legal or Constitutional for FDR to confiscate all the property of over 40,000 Japanese Americans and about 10,000 Germans and political dissidents and then lock them up in internment camps without any due process? About 60% of these Americans were born here.

Do you think it was legal or Constitutional for FDR to confiscate all the gold in private hands without compensation? It can be done again.

FDR used the Constitution for toilet paper, yet he is considered to be the greatest Democrat president in our history.

Our current president took an oath: I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." Yet, he and many other Democrats are trying to circumvent or neuter the Constitution whenever they feel the need.

When Obama was a part-time law school lecturer (he never was a law professor or Constitutional scholar), he frequently referred to the Constitution as a "deeply flawed document" because it did not spell out what the the country must provide for its citizens. Huh? Anyone who has read the Constitution should understand that its purpose is to protect Americans from tyrannical governments who wish to impose their ideologies on us. But that could never happen in the USA.

Even the liberal Supreme Court justices are trying to re-interpret the Constitution by looking at interpretations of Constitutions in other countries. That shows a lack of respect for our own Constitution. Foreign Constitutions are irrelevant.

Other than revolution, our only real safeguard against a tyrannical takeover of the country is the media, which is supposed to be a watchdog against government abuse. It is debatable whether or not that has ever worked, but what is going on today with the overwhelming percentage of the media who refuse to report misdeeds of Democrats and particularly the current president is not debatable. They helped to get this guy elected and they are protecting their investment.

Some people may not like Fox News, but it is the only place where you will hear both sides of a story. The rest of the news media is just part of the propaganda machine.

The Constitution is a fantastic document, but to understand the concept behind it, it is even better
