Just to let you know that I am neither one

I think that the issue is with the Independents. I mean the same people that voted for Reagan also voted for Obama. A lot of Ron Paul supporters also switched to Obama. Basically, the voters are looking for who is going to give them the 'goodies' and all the same time the country is going bankrupt.

The two-party system itself is king of a joke as well. Where do Reagen-Democrats and RINOs (Republican in Name Only) stand? The party platform shouldn't change with the wind.

But what can one expect when independents can vote in either primary and even in some states Republicans/Democrats can vote in either primary.

In the end no one stands for getting the spending down in line with revenue.

It is not a joke, they run the country for more than a century

You have to read this Canadian article, which is excellent in my opinion: Conservative, Liberals or Neither

Perhaps at first it wasn't a joke. But the two-party system is institutionalized through public funding and voting laws. Also, the US Constitution did not fix the size of the House of Representatives and to properly represent the people there should be at least 1 representative per 500k people. So that would give the House 200 more seats and possibly allow the emergence of a third party.

The third party is a great idea, but it will not change too much the game if they are bought by the same corporations and same banking system. I guess you have to change the core of the society.

The root of the problem is with a system that requires buku amounts of money in order for anyone to get elected. Every candidate MUST cater to the big bucks support from corporations, unions, trial lawyers associations and special interest groups who want to swing legislation in their favor. The current system is therefore hopelessly corrupted. The system cannot be fixed until the root causes for the problems are eliminated, but no politician will do that because it would cut off their own funding.

I thinks most American are ready for a good third party with a platform that focuses on the long-term interests of the country, which is not the same as that of any special interests groups. However, that is not likely to happen due to the money hurdle.

I guess the Republican vs Democrat game is just entertainment. Look what the President Obama is doing. It is pretty clear that both, President Bush and President Obama have similar goals: Their own geo-political interests, not the people interests.

Right now, the benefits of socialism are working for the corporations and the banking cartel (bailouts, private Federal Reserve credit with 0% interest) and the inconvenients of capitalism on people struggling with massive unemployment, wage reduction, and hyperinflation on commodities.

We aren't in a free market capitalism and growing economy anymore. We are losing liberties and freedom fast because of monopolies and corruptions.

I think i was a RINO for the most part of bush jr.'s presidency. you can check my dp about me page for more about me.

i recently changed to the indepentent party in 2010.

i was a pre-pubecent kid when reagan was president so don't know much of the finer points from off the top of my head but your reagan-obama parallels are compelling. could you elaborate more on the `goodies' you wrote about, i think i get the gist but not as much at this moment because of my pre-pubecent days when reagan was president.

with the wars dwindling down now, the "war" distraction is going away (with the terror fight deferring to clandestine services and homeland security soon) military spending will go down but so is that drive for an economy that war brings based on WWII (or was that a one time thing?).

obama said in 2008 that jobs will be recovering in 2011, how are things now?
