Well, we know that at least half of the voting population would probably prefer a socialist system. Don't forget that Comunism and Socialism are not the same. Communism tends to be a totalitarian form of government with few individual rights. Socialism tends to fall in between Capitalism and Communism. European countries are Socialist, but have no desire to become Communist. Countries rarely turn into Communist states without bloody revolutions that results in millions of deaths.
