"This is why I live on benefits!"

I randomly came across this and it is yet another example how those who are in deep need are often pushed to the side due to those who simply open up their hands by choice ... even though they can easily find something that makes them earn a living:

A friend of mine landed himself a minimum wage job in a factory doing 12-hour shifts 5 days a week and suggested I go for it too, however a quick go with the calculator revealed after all basic expenses, rent and taxes I'd only come out with £5300 free spending money from the annual salary of £17,800 and that's just basic personal expenses like food, not including treats, clothes pets, hobbies, children, ect.

So 12 hours a day in a shitty factory for £400 free spending money every month is just out of the question. On the other hand I've calculated after basic food and rent expenses I only have £25 spare cash per month when on the dole, but at least I'm not wasting away my mental and physical health for 12 hours a day in which you'd only have no more than 3-4 hours spare time before you will need to go to sleep... that is no life and no way worth £5300 per year!

I'd have to be paid at least double the minimum wage before sacrificing half my life time working in a piece of shit factory, so £10,000 per year is decent and you could realistically save enough to buy a house after 10-20 years but £5000 per year... no fucking way!

What you are seeing it the end-goal with the Progressive movement. Everyone becomes dependent upon government and all power is consolidated with government.

It looks like the Brits have the same problem as the USA when trying to motivate some people to work. The freebies are irresistible.

I've seen some calculations that show that when an American goes on Social Security Disability, plus collects food stamps, plus collects a housing subsidy, they can earn close to $30,000 per year. 90,000 people signed up for disability thus far in December of this year. Why work when Obamaclaus has made it so easy to collect tax free disability money? Obama is turning all of these people into hard-core Democrats who will fight to keep their freebies.

I just saw this statement once made by Henry Ford: ""Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the US Government take care of him better take a closer look at the American Indian."

This entire welfare stuff goes back to good old FDR.
I remember as a kid, commodities.
Someone from the government would actually come to your house once a month with a big box loaded with cheese, peanut butter, butter, beans, rice, flour and more.
We were never on the dole, but knew people who got this monthly.

Henry Ford paid his workers a good wage because he said that his workers to be good productive workers had to get paid enough that they could buy the autos they were building.

And why I believe that the minimum wage should be raised to a minimum of $10 an hour.

I do remember a poor family in my neighborhood that received the monthly food boxes in the 1960s. I also remember their kids used to take the blocks of cheese and smear them on the sidewalk in front of their home.

Actually, the freebies started with FDR, but the current welfare system, along with the massive fraud associated with it, started with LBJ. His War on Poverty that escalated the welfare system, along with his Viet Nam war, are what plunged us into the huge economic mess that we experienced during the 1970s and early 1980s.

As my Dad always said, you cannot give money away or blow your money up, without consequences. There is little economic benefit when someone has not created anything in exchange for their checks. This redistribution of wealth is all Keynesian economics, which didn't work in the 1930s (it kept us in the Great Depression), didn't work in the 1970s, and still does not work under Obama.

The only reason that the unemployment rate as calculated under Obama has come down is because of the millions of people who have dropped out of the work force and are no longer part of the calculation. I would bet that a simple study could show how a large percentage of those former workers are now collecting Social Security Disability payments.

There's one that is imminently worth repeating. I gotta remember that.

As for the post in the OP... ya gotta hope that was a fake, but whether it is or isnt, it clearly represents the way of thinking exemplified by the professional panhandlers that shove the TRUE "needy" to the side so they can gorge at the trough. I'm not against providing a helping hand in exceptional cases, but providing a living to those that just don't want to work is total bullshit. It grows old very fast having morons in DC that cant tell the difference.

Remember the CCC? My dad does.
    CCC = Civilian Conservation Corps
Instead of the government just giving you money, you had to earn it!
Cleaning parks, making roads, etc etc.

That is what the USA should do now.
    You want money?
Go out and do the grunt work.
    Don't and get nothing.

And quit paying welfare moms to have freaking more babies!

According to SNAP Monthly Data the amount of people on food stamps is increasing 500k per month and totals 47,710,324 as of Sept 2012.

    This isn't sustainable.

    Perhaps that is the plan.
