Yes I agree. I am also running several WP blogs however I will not recommend to upgrade straight away when a new version released, check your plugins 1st, if they support the latest WP version then go ahead, otherwise your WP site will look or act funny, believe me I know (I had to closed down my online store for 3 days because of this)

As Will said, obviously someone screwed your WP install , I don't know if you over-write your current WP install with the latest version will help, but you can follow the instruction here Upgrading WordPress � WordPress Codex . I have upgraded a few of my WP installs following that instruction without any problems, if you install your WP using fantastico or simplescripts then there should be no problem, simply go to your fantastico / simplescript control panel and then select upgrade and you're done.
