Thread: Harm in using Live - CD

Totally understand. I would decide to what scope you want to get into the problem and plan out a series of articles relating. You could do 10-20 on this and related topics I would think.
    Best of luck.

But lets assume some is hell bent to change this and consider DNS poisoning in the equation and you can very well understand that exact clone of ubuntu but giving a very different cd image to users.
Original distribution sites can also be compromised. That happened to the IRC server source code a bunch of years back.

I swear, by my life and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine.

    ohk that's a new angle.

I didn't thought about this one.

maybe i was considering them to be very secure and immune to attacks..

but this again reminds me all things are links in a chain every link has a weak point and chain is as strong as its weakest link

You just have to go back to the original Unix backdoor....nothing is 100% safe unless the computer is not connected to the Internet, etc. Malicious people exist everywhere....

    Here's a parallel story:
One US navy ship was being built about 15 years ago, one of the electricians was told 30 days out he was being fired...he reversed the wiring that would turn off the a/c's when you turned on the lights...left a nice little note...took 9 mos to sort out...

what do programmers do when they think or know they're getting let go?? Heck if they're bored, what do they do the rest of the time when a project is past major development if underemployed? "Optimize" our software with backdoors, etc?? Probably at least a few.
