    phpDesigner and Dreamweaver?

What editors do you all use? Personally, I am a phpDesigner and Dreamweaver guy.

I use phpDesigner when writing my code so it looks pretty and I don't leave anything out and then I use Dreamweaver to upload the code and do small edits.

    What about YOU?

Oh, it is. It definitely is. But, once you learn it, vi is the most efficient and powerful editor ever developed.

Make that 2 pains even though I love it too; specially when I'm far far away from my local Server and Laptop, putty + vi are my best friends; I can even work on my PDA.

    :wq

Oh yes, I use Dreamweaver a lot too.

    EDIT

90% of the banks in Europe still run COBOL programs on their IBM Z/OS systems (mainframes).

Illinois State University has 2 IBM z/OS mainframes. One that we use in the IT classes to learn from and the second is for all of the student records and stuff. The IT mainframe was donated to Illinois State for learning purposes and a major program was even developed to learn the legacy programming language.

    That's damn cool!

Are you using Linux there also? I mean since IBM started to include Linux compliance on the Z/OS, every bank decided to install it and try so I thought maybe Uni's did the same.

I use Notepad if it's for mehself. I use `pico` or `vi` if it's for Will.

Sounds like something my COBOL professor would say. I'm going to have to disagree without any knowledge in advance

  10. Oh no, COBOL was designed to be easy from the start. COBOL (Common Business Oriented Language) was designed with the idea that normal business people could read and write useful programs. It failed miserably to meet that goal, but COBOL was an amazing success anyway.

vi would be more like FORTRAN.

Wait... Your COBOL professor? Universities are still torturing students with COBOL? Owwww...
