In my experience, some scraper sites have copied Yahoo! Answers content onto their own pages, and then made the links in the text into "dofollow" links. The trouble is that they remove the hyperlinked words and replace it with "click here". So, the destination site will get a backlink, but it won't help in keyword ranking.
Am I making any sense?
Some new things to learn in this thread. Thanks
Thanks for the list , some interesting techniques that i may use!

Many SEOs proclaim themselves black hat, gray hat, or white hat. How a company or entity represents itself may not always be accurate, but can help one determine the type of SEO according to specific needs or requirements.
White Hat SEOs generally stick to the guidelines set by reputable search engines. SEO firms of this type are “traditionalist,” and thus employ fundamental methods resulting in successful, long-standing records for their clients. The methodologies of the White Hat are gradual – the customer’s rank increases through time, yet has considerable “staying” potential. If your company’s brand recall and reputation is critical, the White Hat SEO is for you.
Gray Hat SEOs are not just the middle ground between Black Hats and White Hats, contrary to the connotation of the label ‘gray’ in this context. They may circumvent Google’s rules to some extent. They may even use loopholes in said policies to further the cause of their clientele. In some cases, they utilize techniques that White Hats would call questionable, such as:
- buying web site text links
- creating filler pages to hustle for rank, though these pages may be unusable to users or visitors
- “keyword stuffing” text
- linking keywords to home pages
Gray Hat SEOs generally use poorly-defined guidelines as set by the more popular search engines to their advantage. These firms, though not in any way conservative like the White Hats, rarely tread the territory of the Black Hats.
Black Hat SEOs utilize procedures which directly violate the quality guidelines as set by the more popular search engines. The label connotes the “creativity” of these SEOs, wherein they use technical expertise not just to sidestep, but go against what was determined as ethical. Black Hats seize opportunities, mitigate risks, and get high rankings for their clients. These firms generally employ practices such as “cloaking” websites, or misrepresenting a web page to search engines and show something entirely different to a visitor.
If a company simply needs to drive traffic and compete with other similar ventures, they should go the way of the Black Hat. Affiliate and arbitrage markets thrive with these SEOs. A company which uses these services, however, needs a multitude of domain names. The domain in use may get flagged, thus necessitating the move to a different domain name.
Briefly:
·If the brand name is integral to your company’s success, and you prefer a steady, natural growth with stable potential, take the path of the White Hat.
·Is the occasional sidestep or compromise in terms of practice needed to reach your company’s goals? Go with the Gray Hat.
·Crude traffic may be the end-all and be-all of your business plan. If the brand does not matter, the Black Hat is your SEO.
