Most of them seem to involve being social in some way, which is interesting because SEO is considered a dominant way of getting traffic, but seems to in large part depend on what nearly amounts to social marketing. Just a thought.

"Think three months ahead. That means in November you should be thinking about what you're going to do on Valentine's Day."

I wonder how many web site owners do this?

I feel it is good sound advice to plan ahead.

But most if not the vast majority of webmasters do not think ahead.
Especially when it comes to advertising.
They want the here and now for visitors, page rank, etc.
Not the future.
It is for them, well if your site gets page rank, visitors, etc. 3 months or 6 months from now, then I will advertise.
So you all talk about the future, but really how many of you actually plan and advertise for the future?
From my experiences here and elsewhere?

Start playing chess or some RTS. That will on the long term force you to think like that.

Thinking and planning ahead is very important and a great tip. My dehunidifier website gets very seasonal traffic, hardly anything in the summer but in the winter once things start to get wet and damp I get a fanastic boost in traffic. I'm sure there are lots of sites which are either seasonal or relate to certain events.
