Question Advertising on ExactSeek / ISEDN?

I'm subscribed to SitePro News for a long while and occasionally get some offers. Multiple times since the crisis started they've been pitching against Google Adwords in relation to "cutting costs in hard times".

The alternative they advertise is ExactSeek.com and Independent Search Engine & Directory Network (ISEDN). There's a video tour here.

It's interesting because they apparently have rather cheap flat fees for certain periods of time and limited ad spots for specific keywords.

But it's not Google, Yahoo and the like so I worry that it might not compare in terms of possible reach. So I'm wondering if anyone knows about this and if anyone has tried ExactSeek and ISEDN advertising before and how did it work?

    Thanks

I don't think I would ever see paid directories as an alternative to PPC.

They have a few search engines in the mix, but they do seem heavily focused on directories.

Even though I wouldn't evaluate it as a competitor to a PPC program like AdWords, it might be worth the investment all on it's own.

Thanks. I think I might try them if they allow a single listing since they're so cheap. Though I'd still need to verify if it may actually be harmful. I hear that links in low quality directories may not only be worhtless, but sometimes even send the wrong signal.

I've heard that too, but the theory is frustratingly difficult to test.
