Nothing on the web is 100% natural. If Google gave more value to "naked links", it would be detected. It would be long before people were selling "naked link" e-books etc

The sites ranking for "click here" generally have a massive amount of inbound links with "click here" in the anchor text. So it does effect SEO. But there isn't much SEO benefit other than the link is passing some juice.

The adobe reader page is #1 for "click here" and is PR10. It does appear that "every bit counts".

Yes, when I started out all I did was link to the url. It is because of forums like this that I am not making that mistake any more.

NO, what is unnatural is starving!!! Each day we must learn and improve our sites if we don't all we have is the same traffic that we had when we started on day one. The friends we told "I have a site online" to bad only half of them take the time to show up.

Anchor text is much more useful for the end user compared to a url as the link text. This is especially true when the links are in content. Back in the days of GeoCities, this was the case.

If anchor is not within then it is not an anchor.
