Another Huge Drop in Rankings - What is up with Google?

    Hey Guys,

I have seen yet another site, in fact proxysites.ca take a huge dip in the rankings just over the weekend.

Bed time on Friday, it was at number 8.

Bed time on Sunday, it is at 31.

    ??????????????

I have not touched anything over the weekend.

Back about 2 weeks ago I switched the recip links on 3 of my top lists. So if you wanted your site linked to Juvos, you have to put the recip link for proxysites.ca in it, visa versa. 3 way exchanging, but I have no other clue what it could be.

    Any thoughts?

Rankings bounce a lot. I wouldn't stress about a bounce unless it lasted more than a week or recurred frequently.

I swear, by my life and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine.

    Hey Will,

I am at work right now, you have my hopes up!

I had this happen too with 2 sites and its becoming more than a nuisance. One site is normally at #2 position, then drops significantly to the 8th page for example. On one site it is occurring frequently now and the drop duration takes 1 to 2 weeks.

I have checked with Google's Webmaster Central where I asked my question and read others to no avail. I will have to tweak and experiment a bit but it might be the 'new site' factor in the algorithm that's causing it.

Yea, it's just normal fluctuations. Give it some time to settle and then work from there.

On a side note. Whoa, proxysites dot net is at #3 already for the term. It's only been a few weeks since I launched that site.

Even though it is most likely normal fluctuations you have to remember this...

If you havent touched the site in awhile that would effect rankings you need to always remember that your competitors are working on moving up the ranks. So if you dont do anything then dont be surprised if you drop.
