Plopping links on social profiles

So, we then have to assume that Google can understand the difference between the different type of links, then. Certainly if it screamed "profile" then most likely it wouldn't be counted (or counted less).

The only problem I have, though, is that "syndication links" tend to be there one day and then be gone the next. Profile links, if someone were to build a lot of links to their profile by participating in the rest of the social media site (like by voting, commenting, etc.), profile links wouldn't necessarily "go away " overnight like a syndication link. OR even an article link done through article syndication.

I agree, when it comes to building profiles for links, it has to include:
- Creation Of Profile
- Content Added to Profile
- Profile then bookmarked
- Rss Feed Submission of Profile Submitted

All this discussion is very very interesting! Learned a lot from all of your posts. But then how would people get as many links as possible in a short time like James does it...

Not saying that James is doing that but how does one get 9,000 links a day "decently"?

Back to the first post, obviously 1 cent per profile is too cheap for a human to create so it will be via a robotic spamming script so should throw up a red flag and anyone who promotes it should be under scrutiny IMO.
